$100 Matter… Alleged Killer In Court Monday

Corporal 18181456 Joseph Lamin Steven on Tuesday 20 January 2026 again appeared before Principal Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 and the matter was adjourned again for further proceedings.

Stevens is before the court in connection with the alleged shooting and killing of his colleague Military Officer, Moses Brima Kabba for an alleged USD 100 that was given to them.

The defendant is facing one count of murder, contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the Schedule to the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act, 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).

According to the indictment, the defendant on Wednesday, 26th November 2025, at the Presidential Lodge, Freetown International Airport, Lungi, in the Port Loko Judicial District, Corporal Stevens allegedly shot and killed his colleague, Moses Brima Kabba.

Shortly after the matter was mentioned, the prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Mansaray confirmed that all necessary documents had been served on the defendant to enable him to prepare his defence, adding that the witness who supposed to testify in court is absent.

Principal Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah remanded the defendant at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown, and the matter was adjourned to 26th January 2026 for further proceedings.
