1st Casualty…Secretary to President Fired

Must read

By Ralph Sesay

A release from State House has announced the appointment of former Head of Civil Service and Secretary to Cabinet, Dr. Julius Sandi as the new Secretary to President.

This development could not be unconnected to an embarrassment Dr. Dennis Vandi caused the Presidency some few days back, when he ascribed the President to a press suspending the Financial Acts of 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Even though the Secretary to President later, in a last minute ditch to save his face, apologized for what he refered to as miscommunication and further highlighting the actual intentions of His Excellency the President on the issue, while informing the business community that the power to amend such Acts lies with Parliament upon the advice of the Minister of Finance.

The last minute action could not save the work of the Secretary to the President whose blunder became a subject of discussion in both the Social Media and other public fora with opposition and other government critics, calling for either his resignation or the President shows him the exit door.

Many believe his replacement could be directly connected to this blunder.

Sources very close to State House could not ascertain whether his replacement could be attributed to the blunder, as, according to them, the President has the power to ‘hire and fire’.
