2 Arraigned For Malicious Damage

Abu Koroma and Mohamed Kamara standing trail at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No. 1 presided over by Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma for the offences of conspiracy; malicious damage and larceny have yesterday made another appearance.
Whiles Mohamed Kamara,the 1st accused had pleaded guilty to all the offences, the second accused ,Abu Koroma pleaded not guilty.
Defense counsel I. S Kamara representing the first accused person Mohamed Kamara, applied for bail on behalf of his client relying on section 79 (2) of the Criminal Procedure Act No 32 of 1965.
Lawyer Kamara had also mentioned section 23 (4) of 1991 Constitution which according to him had spelt out clearly that the accused persons are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
Police Prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police Osman Mohamed Bangura, vehemently objected to bail on the grounds that they wanted to hear the evidence so far.
ASP Osman Mohamed Bangura also sought for an adjournment on the grounds that, he wanted to have conference with the witness.
His application was granted by the Presiding Magistrate.
The accessed persons were refused bail and remanded.
The police charge sheet indicates that Mohamed Kamara and Abu Koroma, sometimes in March 2017, at Kamara Bar, Bai Bureh Road in the Freetown Judicial District in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, maliciously damaged a Benz Car valued at Six Thousand United States Dollars ($ 6,000) an equivalence of fifty one million Leones (Le 51,000,000) entrusted to them by Umaru Bah for maintenance.
The matter was adjourned to the 18th February 2020.
