2023 Elections… SLPP Parliamentary Leaders Worried

The Members of Parliament representing the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) have decided to bows out of the race to contest for the coming Members of Parliament symbol come 2023.

One of the leader in the house said, the SLPP hopes the 2023 general elections is slim, adding that looking at the effectiveness of members to campaign voters is also very weak.

‘The reason I love the APC party is that, they are very resilient, knows politics and above all the APC is a party that is determine to win election unlike the SLPP that everyone has renege in their duties to ensure SLPP victory.’ One of the SLPP big Vons in Parliament said.

The SLPP strongman in Parliament said, he is not interested for the SLPP symbol anymore because the chances for the parties victory is still doubtful looking at the negative responses from the voters about the forthcoming elections.

He said the SLPP victory is not visible because most of the party structures.

According to the SLPP leaders in Parliament the hopes and chances of the ruling Sierra Leone people’s Party (SLPP) to secure another victory in the forthcoming June 2023 General Election are diminishing every day as members and supporters of the party are constantly complaining about bad governance and the daily inflation of the priceless of goods and services.

The medium revealed that the situation become a worrying concern for most of the unemployed youths and elders of the ruling party, despite the many good promises that were made to them by the party’s hierarchy during the campaign period for the past 2018 elections that brought the SLPP to power.

Some SLPP MPs said due to this situation many youths in the party especially those of the Green Network are calling on the party’s leadership to up their political game or risk going back to the opposition after the 2023 elections speaking from the rehabilitated SLPP party headquarters on Wallace Johnson Street.

One of the grassroots SLPP members has expressed grievances,  revealing that the upcoming election is going to be very difficult for the incumbent president to win due to the neglect of the welfare of the party’s unemployed youths and elders.

The MPs said since 2018, very little attention has been paid by the hierarchy to the grassroots members, adding that despite many visitations from the youths, the elders of the party are refusing to engage them in a face-to-face meeting to speak on the party’s preparedness for the upcoming elections.

Many MPs that were at the scene where this SLPP MP made the statement were very unhappy especially so when he was one of the leaders of the SLPP in Parliament, adding that they are frustrated over the statement made by the leader amid many supporters.

They said they have less hope to clinch the 2023 general elections.
