Appeals Court Judge presiding over cases at the Sexual Offences Model Court, Justice Komba Kamanda has sentenced a 21-year-old Driver to ten years imprisonment.
Accused, Samuel Brown was brought before the Court on a one-count indictment of Sexual Penetration, contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act 2012.
The accused pleaded guilty of the crime and pleaded for mercy. He told the Court that he was in a love relationship with the victim who is a Child under the laws of Sierra Leone.
In his address, Justice Kamanda told the Court that the accused did not waste the court’s time and is a first-time offender.
“He is a first time offender based on the records presented by the Prosecutor,” the judge said adding that victim was not put through the agony of giving evidence.
State Counsel Y.I. Sesay informed the Court that the the accused’s plea was consistent with his statements made to the police.
