28-Year-Old Man Remanded for Alleged Murder of First Lady’s Staff

Twenty-eight-year-old Sam Momoh, alias “Mende Boy,” an unemployed man, has been remanded to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 for the alleged murder of a staff member of the First Lady.

The defendant is standing trial on two counts of charges, namely conspiracy contrary to law and murder contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the Schedule of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021, Act No. 6 of 2022.

According to the particulars of offence, on Saturday 24th January 2026 at Lodge Junction, Kingharman Road in the Western Urban Area in Freetown, the defendant allegedly conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony, to wit murder.

Count two further states that on the same date and at the same place, the defendant allegedly murdered Joshua Mansaray.

When the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken.

The prosecutor, C.S.P. Tommy B. Zizer Esq., submitted that he had served the defendant with the bundle of his statements, which the defendant admitted receiving. The defendant was not legally represented in court.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Jah refused bail and remanded the defendant to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 17th March 2026.
