Mohammed Osman Sesay, Lamin Sorie Sesay and Francis Gaad on Wednesday 8th August 2018 made their second appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Court No.1for allegedly conspiring with other person sun known, and made false representation to Karan Kharti, owner of Freez Land Shop at Wilkinson Road, Freetown, as Director and staffs of NASSIT.
They further presented themselves as being tasked to contribute in the preparation of the inauguration ceremony of His Excellency, the President, on May 12, 2018 and requested for food items on a forged National Social Security and Insurance Trust requisition form dated 7th May 2018.
The accused were arraigned on twelve counts charges, ranging from conspiracy to defraud, obtaining goods on forged document and altering forged document.
The court details state that the accused, on Monday 7th May, 2018 at Freez Land Shop at 32 Wilkinson Road, Freetown, with intent to defraud, obtained from Karan Khatri fifty-nine cartoons of chicken legs, valued at six million, seven hundred and sixty-five thousand Leones (Le6,765,000),forty cartoons of sausage, valued at three million, six hundred thousand Leones(Le 3,600,000), thirty cartoons of gizzard, valued at four million, two hundred thousand Leones(Le 4,200,000), ten cartoons of fresh milk, valued at one million seven hundred thousand Leones(Le1,700,000) and other food items.
The total value is put at thirty-two million, seven hundred and seventy-five thousand Leones(Le 32,775,000).They forged one National Social Security Insurance Trust (NASSIT) requisition form dated 7th May 2018, knowing same to be false.
On the same date at the same shop,the accused obtained the same goods by virtue of a forged document to wit Rokel Commercial Bank cheque No. 1070073 dated 7th May 2018 for the sum of fourteen million, six hundred and fifty thousand Leones(Le14,650,000). It was issued in the name of Freez Land Shop, knowing same to be forged.
The accused also, according to the charge sheet,altered certain forged documents, to wit one Rokel Commercial Bank Limited chequeNo. 1070074 dated 7th May 2018 for the sum of six million and seventy-five thousand Leones(Le 6,075,000) issued in the name of Freez Land, knowing same to be false.
The Presiding magistrate noted that he will not waste time to listen to the defense counsel on the issue of bail as the matter is very serious.
The accused were remanded and the matter was adjourned to the 13th August 2018.
