Seventy five (75) cases have been set for further hearing at the High Court following their successful preliminary hearings at the Magistrate Courts.

These cases were mentioned during the September Criminal Session presided by Justice Alfred Tommy Ganda, where some accused were sentence to certain jail term imprisonment, some were acquitted and discharged base on time spent in prison and others were assigned to different judges to hear and determine their matters.

The highest case on the list is office, shop, house breaking and larceny with twenty six cases, follow by nine case of fraudulent conversation, eight cases of wounding with intent, seven case of murder, six cases of prohibited drugs, six cases of robbery, four cases of human trafficking, three cases of treason and misprision of treason, one case of embezzlement and one case of bigamy and forgery.

When the charges were read and explained to accused persons most of them pleaded guilty and pleaded for mercy backing by their defense counsels from the Sierra Leone Legal Aid Board who made plea mitigation on their behalf.

Those whose cases were serious were assigned to Judges to seat, heard and determine the matter and their matters were adjourned to a specific date for hearing by an assigned Judge.
