With Removal Of Lara & Tamba… President Bio Cleans Hands

Must read

As if as one is looking at the two sides of a coin and that of the controversy that continues to linger around the removal of the Auditor-General, Lara Taylor-Pearce and her Deputy, Tamba Momoh, there is a clear conjecture thereof that President Bio has succeeded in cleansing him name in the international sphere of allegations that his office surreptitiously with perhaps his full acquiescence, forged receipts that claim payments for his hotel accommodations during some of his numerous overseas travels.

In short, an image is a visual representation of something, such as a drawing, painting, photograph, or sculpture.

In 2021, the Auditor-General and her Deputy were suspended by President Bio; his decision to suspend the country’s Auditor-General, Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce, raised lots of questions as to why he took such a controversial decision.

His decision had come barely few weeks before the Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce was due to present her audit report on the government’s financial stewardship in 2020.

It was revealed that the Auditor General’s 2021 Report contained “damning accounts” of the government’s mismanagement of and unaccountability of public funds, running into hundreds of millions of dollars.

This didn’t go down well with the ruling party and the only option left was to encourage the President to safe the face of his presidency, to suspend her and the substantive deputy, before they unleashed that the spuriously damning report that discloses gross malfeasance and corruption through forgery in the office of the President.

Going further, a Special Tribunal was set up by President Bio’s Attorney General to investigate allegations of procurement irregularities, conflict of interests and professional misconduct on the part of the suspended Auditor-General and her right-hand deputy.

The credible Auditors were accused of violating the Financial Management Act of 2016, the Fiscal Management and Responsibility Act of 2017 and the National Public Procurement Act, 2016.

According to the said report it shows that the Auditor General’s initial refusal to comply with the legal opinion of the Solicitor-General to set up a Single Treasury Account for the payment of audit fees was strongly opposed by the Ministry of Finance which led to the intervention of the Speaker of Parliament.

However, on Friday, 20th December 20204 before the MPs voted for the removal of the auditors, President Bio was reported to have sent a letter to Parliament which was read out by the Clerk of Parliament Hon. Umar Paran Tarawally.

In summary, the said letter served as warning to both the ruling and opposition MPs to do the needful as recommended in the Special Tribunal report.

Eventually, the Genesis and Revelation of the removal of Auditor-General and her deputy was a calculated ploy by President Bio and his team to cast blame against the duo as a way of cleansing his own name.

It is said “he who comes with equity most comes with clean hands” perhaps, that is what could have determined the case of President Bio.
