The Sierra Leone U-17 Female team set a new record when they defeated the Central African Republic 2-0 on Saturday at the Japoma Stadium in Doula, Cameroon. The match was part of a two-legged tie in the Preliminary Rounds of the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup Qualifiers.
Under the visionary leadership of Thomas Daddy Brima, President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and the unwavering support from FIFA, CAF, WAFU and His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, women’s football in Sierra Leone has undergone a remarkable transformation.

Reacting to the victory, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President, Thomas Brima congratulated the young team on their achievement.
“I’m so ecstatic seeing our U-17 ladies showcasing class and finesse at the international stage. This is the first big victory in this category. Next encounter is our neighbours – Guinea. We have a responsibility to show the world that our football ecosystem despites their challenge is still growing rapidly. Congratulations to the U-17 technical team and the Federation for such excellence,’ the SLFA Chief stated.
