6th Islamic Solidarity Games: NOC Chief Confirms Sierra Leone’s Participation

Prince Sualley, the President of the National Olympic Committee/ Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/ CGA-SLE), has confirmed that Sierra Leone will participate in the sixth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games which will be held on 6-15 August 2025 at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Islamic Solidarity Games is a multinational, multi-sports event managed jointly by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF),[the Games involve elite athletes of the OIC competing in a variety of sports. The most recent edition was held in Konya, Turkey, in 2022, with Riyadh, Saudi Arabia host the 2025 edition.

President Sualley made this confirmation during his New Year message, assuring the nation that the NOC is committed to ensure Sierra Leone’s athletes are well-prepared for these global challenges.

 “In 2025, Sierra Leone will proudly represent itself on the global stage at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh. These Games are not only an opportunity to foster unity among nations but also a platform for our athletes to showcase their talent, determination, and pride. Our competitors are training with great dedication to make the nation proud. The NOC President maintained. “The Islamic Solidarity Games will bring together athletes from across the Islamic world, fostering sportsmanship and unity through competition. For Sierra Leone, it is an important stage to demonstrate the country’s sporting prowess and resilience,” he noted.

The NOC-SLE is committed to ensuring that Sierra Leone’s athletes are well-prepared for these global challenges. “Our athletes’ success is built on rigorous training, enhanced facilities, and partnerships that strengthen their potential. We are working tirelessly to support them with the resources and opportunities they need to compete at the highest level,” he affirmed.

“Your support is crucial, whether it’s through moral encouragement, financial contributions, or simply cheering from the sidelines. Together, we can inspire our athletes to achieve greatness and elevate Sierra Leone on the global sporting stage,” the president stated, calling on all Sierra Leoneans, both at home and abroad, to rally behind their national teams.

The NOC-SLE’s commitment extends beyond competition, with a broader mission to empower the nation’s youth through sports, nurture a culture of excellence, and inspire the next generation of champions.

As 2025 unfolds, Sierra Leone looks forward to making its mark on the international sports scene, with the Islamic Solidarity Games being a key milestone in this journey.
