The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), through its Technical Department, is hosting a five-day workshop on the Coach Educators’ Development Pathway, aimed at strengthening coach education and mentorship across the country.

The training workshop, which started on Monday, May 26, concluded on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the SLFA Headquarters in Freetown.

Facilitated by FIFA Technical Expert Frans Mokata Mogashoa from South Africa, the workshop is designed to empower SLFA Coach Educators to build capacity within the local coaching ecosystem. The program is part of FIFA’s global initiative to support Member Associations in developing qualified and competent coach educators.

Coach Educators Mohamed Lamin Kamara (Head Coach of the Sierra Leone U-20 national team and East End Lions), Ishmail Kallon, and Mohamed Bilo Bah—who previously participated in a similar program in Ghana in 2023—are currently being mentored and assessed. Their evaluation focuses on key areas including problem-solving, talent development, knowledge sharing, and leadership in coach education.

In his address to participants, Mogashoa expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the SLFA Coach Educators, noting that their dedication and progress bode well for the future of football in Sierra Leone. He commended the SLFA Technical Department for selecting qualified and capable participants, citing Coach Kamara’s recent performance at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt as a testament to the initiative’s success.

“These coach educators have shown great promise, Mogashoa said. “ Their development is crucial to improving the quality of player training across the country, particularly under the Talent Development Scheme. I urge them to continue working on areas of improvement that were unidentified during the course, as they work towards earning their FIFA diplomas.”

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara thanked the SLFA for investing in capacity building and reaffirmed their commitment to sharing the knowledge gained with coaches nationwide.
