A Businessman In Court For Allegedly Stealing $10,000 In Parliament

Ibrahim Sorie Koroma, a businessman was been dragged to court on Thursday, 9th October 2025 before Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 on allegation of stealing a black bag containing Ten Thousand United States Dollars and Four Thousand, Six Hundred New Leones (NLe 4, 600) and other assorted properties belonging to one John Melvin Kuminah.

According to the charge sheet, Ibrahim Sorie Koroma on 8th September, 2025 at the House of Parliament in Freetown, stole one black leather bag containing the sum of Ten Thousand United States Dollars, Four Thousand and Sixty New Leones (NLe 4, 060), one wattage power bank, one Samsung mobile phone and assorted items all totaling Two Hundred and Sixty Thousand, Five Hundred and Sixty New Leones (NLe 260, 560) all being property of John Melvin Kuminah.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant no plea taken.

The Prosecutor, Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai sought for a short adjournment indicating that the witnesses in the matter were absent in court.

Magistrate Jah did not grant bail and ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody at the male correctional facility in Freetown until the adjourned date of 16th October, 2025 for hearing.
