All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed “Omodu” Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, has officially launched a solar-powered street lighting initiative in Zimmi, Pujehun District, as part of his ongoing community development engagements across Sierra Leone.
The initiative was unveiled on May 4, 2026, during Jagaban’s visit to the district, where he also met with APC grassroots supporters in several communities.
On his way to Zimmi, Jagaban and his entourage made brief stops at Bandajuma Sowa and Potoru to interact with residents and party supporters. The visit to Potoru was largely driven by growing interest among residents who expressed a desire to meet Jagaban and acknowledge what they described as his development-oriented engagements across the country.
The engagements also provided an opportunity for supporters in the area to publicly reaffirm their backing for his candidacy ahead of the APC National Delegates Conference (NDC).
At the Zimmi APC headquarters, the APC Chairman of Constituency 101, Mr. Dauda Vanwah Koroma, formally received the solar street lighting project on behalf of the APC District Chairman, Dr. Woo, and his executive.
Mr. Koroma expressed appreciation to Jagaban and his delegation for visiting Pujehun District and for introducing a development initiative aimed at addressing the community’s lighting needs.
Addressing the gathering, Jagaban thanked the people of Pujehun for the warm reception and the large turnout in support of his visit and development initiatives.
He noted that the response from residents reflected their strong interest in development and their readiness to support initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods in Pujehun District and across Sierra Leone.
The event also took on a political tone, with residents of Zimmi chanting in Krio, “2028 na Jagaban we want!”
The chant was widely interpreted by supporters as a public expression of endorsement for Jagaban’s bid to become the APC flagbearer ahead of the 2028 elections.
The solar street lighting project is expected to enhance visibility and improve security in parts of Zimmi, while also facilitating safer movement and community activities during nighttime hours.
The large turnout brought together APC supporters, community members, and local leaders, making Jagaban’s visit both a development-focused engagement and a significant grassroots mobilisation in Pujehun District.
The unveiling of the project adds to a series of community interventions associated with Jagaban, as he continues his nationwide engagements ahead of the APC National Delegates Conference.
