By Alpha Barrie

The Sierra Leone National Triathlon Association (SLNTA) has opened registration for athletes, clubs and sports enthusiasts wishing to participate in the 2026 National Duathlon Championship, scheduled to take place in Lunsar on October 18.

The championship will feature the duathlon format of Run-Bike-Run, bringing together athletes from across the country to compete for national honours in what is expected to be a highly competitive event.

According to SLNTA President Mariama Dalinda Rollings-Kamara, the championship is part of the association’s efforts to increase national participation in the sport while identifying promising talents from different age categories.

Rollings-Kamara said the talent identification programme is aimed at developing athletes capable of representing Sierra Leone at future international competitions, while also creating greater opportunities for young people to participate in endurance sports.

She encouraged athletes, clubs and sports enthusiasts from across the country to register and take part in the championship, describing it as an important platform for competition, talent development and the promotion of duathlon in Sierra Leone.

The standard registration fee is NLe 60, with the deadline for payment set for October 10. Late registration after the deadline will attract a fee of NLe 80.

The SLNTA is calling on interested participants to take advantage of the registration window and join athletes from across the country for the national championship in Lunsar.
