Twenty-seven-year-old Jaiah Jusu Amara, a mason, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after appearing before Justice Adrian Fisher at the High Court No. 1 on Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown, on a charge of alleged sexual penetration.

Amara is standing trial on one count of sexual penetration, contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act 2012 (Act No. 12 of 2012), as repealed and replaced by Section 4(a)(ii) of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2019 (Act No. 8 of 2019).

According to the particulars of the offence, the alleged incident occurred on November 17, 2025, in Freetown, when the defendant allegedly engaged in an act of sexual penetration with a child below the age of eighteen.

When the charge was read and explained to him in court, Amara pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution, led by Musa Pious Sesay Esq., requested a short adjournment to enable the State to present its witnesses.

During the proceedings, Justice Fisher asked the defendant whether he knew the alleged victim. In response, Amara stated that he used to assist her with her schoolwork. He further told the court that he was a mason and that they were living together.

The defendant was represented by Randy Bangura Esq.

Justice Fisher subsequently remanded Amara at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown and adjourned the matter to October 23, 2026, for further proceedings.
