As SLAJ 2019 Elections Petitioned… Embattled Candidate to Provide Evidence in 48 hours

A release from the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists Electoral Commission (SLAJEC) has confirmed that one of the Presidential candidates of the just-concluded SLAJ 2019 elections , Mr.Mustapha M.K. Sesay has petitioned the July 13th 2019 elections of the association which secured a convincing victory for Sahid Ahmed Nasralla aka ‘’De monk’’
The release dated 23rd July 2019 states that the petition is titled ‘’Petition Against Conduct of the 2019 SLAJ Elections and Results Announced, with Special Reference to the National Elections’’.

The Electoral Commission release has also disclosed that Teammustapha has requested for an extension of time for the provision of adequate evidence to the Commission.
The SLAJ Chief Electoral Commissioner and Fourah Bay College Lecturer, James Tamba Lebbie disclosed that his Commission has acknowledged receipt of Mr. Sesay’s petition and has given the Teammustapha up to Friday 26th July 2019 to submit their evidence.
The EC further disclosed that SLAJEC will take an additional two to three weeks to look into the claims of the petitioner and come out with its findings.
SLAJEC, according to the release, wishes to reiterate their commitment to the Teammustapha and the entire membership of a dispassionate and fair inquiry into the petition.
The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists recently held its Triennial Conference at the Golden Tulip Hotel Aberdeen, west of Freetown.
This culminated into elections for a new executive which saw the election of outgoing Secretary General, Ahmed Sahid Nasralla aka de Monk as President.
The elections were generally peaceful and many have commended the process noting that it was free from rancor and acrimony which is characteristic of national elections in the country.
