The Minister of Finance has reported that an analysis of receipts from the introduction of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) has revealed that in 2019 a whooping sum of Le480.3 billion has been raised from various TSA agencies.
It was also revealed that out of the said sum, a total of Le 399.7 billion representing 83% of TSA collected were transferred to the consolidated fund.
The Ministry noted that they are currently analyzing the operating expenses of the TSA agencies and will however commence negotiations with the agencies with a view to increase the amount to be retained on goods and services.
The New Direction Government in April 2018, introduced the Treasury Single Account (TSA) out of the fact that Ministers of Government such as Agriculture, Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs to name but a few, were controlling both government and donor resources.
The issue of managing the state resources by Ministers and other government functionaries was a very key issue and hence the introduction of the TSA was a commendable move.
