Orange-SL, UBA Champions Sierra Leone’s Drive to a Cashless Society

Orange Sierra Leone and the United Bank for Africa (UBA) have on Wednesday signed a partnership geared towards providing various financial services for customers of both entities.
Chinedu Obeta, Managing Director UBA while speaking at the ceremony, noted that their partnership with Orange Sierra Leone will improve Sierra Leone GDP, provide opportunities for business people and other individuals.
The UBA MD underscored the point that the platform created as a result of the partnership will preclude the promotion of other products that will be launched in the not too distant future.
Mr. Chinedu emphasized that they are working towards cash less environment even though they are yet to achieve this.
He stated that many businesses have gone into extinction because they are not making use of the available technology.
Chinedu Obeta disclosed that his company is leveraging the 2.5 million subscribers of Orange Money to increasingly provide services to its customers.

Orange Money’s Chief Executive Officer, David Mansaray, told the audience that many people have envisaged a situation wherein they run out of money especially during the weekends and that the introduction of the Bank to Wallet transaction in the newly signed partnership will enable people to simply access monies from their UBA accounts to their Orange Money accounts.
The new partnership, he also noted, will create ease for business people who also run out of money while transacting their businesses.
Mr. Mansaray thanked staff members of both UBA and Orange Money team for assiduously working towards bringing the process into fruition.
Victor Kanu, Products Manager UBA and Satia Kanu, Assistant Orange Money Manager, Orange Sierra Leone made presentations on how the process works including the security features and various services offered by the platform.
They both emphasized the fact that individuals who want to use the platform must be fully registered with the Orange Money platform and must also own a bank account with UBA.
The uniformity of the information provided to both entities they concluded is very critical for one to be able to effectively use the platform.
The climax of the ceremony was the signing of the MOU between the MD of UBA and Orange Money CEO.
