SRTC To Purchase 20 Buses

In order to help alleviate the current challenges facing the country’s public transport system,the Sierra Leone Road Transport Corporation (SLRTC) has secured funding to purchase twenty (20) new buses to aid transportation.
The funds were provided by a local bank through the Ministry of Transport and Aviation.
Making the disclosure recently, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Aviation, Sadiq Sillah said the buses will be utilized for SLRTC fleet renewal and business plan.
He stated that the new buses will be displayed for inter city and regional routes like Bo, Kenema, Makeni, Koidu and international routes like Monrovia and Conakry.
Sadiq Sillah noted that out of the twenty (20) buses, 18 of those buses with forty five seats, and two twenty six seats buses.
He continued that when the buses are procured and commenced operations, the Ministry will set up a special body to monitor them with a view to pay back in the shortest possible time.
He revealed that government is also planning to further purchase nine buses which will be outsourced to private local transport companies to help the poor people in the country.
