National Head of the Family Support Unit (FSU) of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Madam Fatmata Daboh-Kamara on Tuesday 12th May, 2020 visit the new 32-acre complex of the Don Bosco Fambul at Baoma, Russell, Western Area Rural District.
Madam Daboh-Kamara was accompanied by senior Police Investigators at FSU Headquarters to inspect the newly constructed modern complex of the Don Bosco Fambul.
In a conducted tour of the facilities led by the Director of Don Bosco, Father Jorge Mario Crisafulli, Madam Daboh-Kamara expressed happiness for Don Bosco Fambul and described the edifice as one that met international standard.
“Don Bosco Fambul is the only child protection agency with such ultra-modern facilities and the organization is really executing their vision and mission of taking care of street children and improving the lives of young people in Sierra Leone,” she commended.
While addressing the beneficiaries on the Girl’s Shelter Plus department, Madam Daboh-Kamara called on the girls to judiciously utilise the opportunity given to them by Don Bosco Fambul by reforming their lives so that they would become useful and productive citizens.
She concluded by thanking Don Bosco Fambul and the Director, Father Jorge Mario Crisafulli for such a wonderful move to improve the lives of vulnerable youths in Sierra Leone.
In His address, Father Jorge Mario Crisafulli told the Head of FSU that his organization had plans to construct a tertiary institution in the new 32-acre Complex where beneficiaries in the shelter will learn different skills ranging from seamstress, Catering and tourism and other trades.
With such skills, Father Mario said, they would be employed in the Hostels the Organization would construct in the same complex.
Father Jorge also said Don Bosco had a plan to embark on agriculture in the same land where the organization would grow vegetables for the consumption of beneficiaries.
He explained to the Head of FSU that the activities of the various departments in the organization.
He took Madam Daboh-Kamara to the three shelters that have already been relocated to the new home.
Father Jorge concluded by explaining to the head of FSU about the plans of Don Bosco Fambul to construct a forensic Laboratory where DNA tests would be conducted to help in the investigation of rape cases and other pertinent issues.
One of the officers in the entourage of the Head of FSU, Inspector Tarawallie commends Don Bosco saying it is the only Organization in Sierra Leone that is doing what it is known for.
“Don Bosco has changed the lives of many young people that I personally know,” he said.
Another officer in the delegation of the Head of FSU, Inspector Kamara heaped praises on Don Bosco Fambul’s steadfastness in following sexual abuse cases to their conclusion either it favoured them or not.
He also expressed admiration for the steadfastness of Father Jorge Mario Crisafulli in taking care street kids and vulnerable young girls especially those in situations of prostitution.
