Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) in partnership with the Ministry of Works and Public Assets (MPWA), embarks on site visits at the Tokeh – Lumley, Limkokwing – Regent and Hillside Bye Pass Roads on Tuesday 26th of May 2020.
At Tokeh – Lumley Road, the CSE Freetown Project Manager, Mr Mohammed Sow said they had planned to complete the project in December this year, but were faced with some challenges such as compensation of property owners and borrow pits.
The Minister of Works and Public Assets, Mr. Peter Bayoku Conteh thanked CSE for the good works, and assured them that all their concerns raised would be addressed by the relevant State Authorities.
At Limkokwing – Regent Road, Mr. Li Jain the Country Manager for CCECC company said the project was close to completion, but the only challenge was the relocation utilities of companies/Authority/Agencies.
He assured that once the relocation of utilities was done, the project would be completed in March 2021.
At Hillside Bye Pass Road, the representative from CSE, Mr. Amadu Gaye said that the only setback that had caused the delay in the completion of the project was the availability of funds from government for the compensation of affected property owners.
“Once this is done, the project will be completed by December 2020,” he assured.
Ing. Amara Kanneh, the Director General of SLRA said he was impressed and pleased with the progress of work done so far.
He also assured the Chinese owned company’s workers of their support in terms of health care.
Ing. Kanneh also promised the Chinese workers that they would do everything within their power to protect them from contracting Coronavirus.
The visit ended at Blackhall road where the four carriageway of the Hillside Bye Pass Road will terminate. According to SLRA engineer, the exit carriage will have about 260 metres wide.
