The Member of Parliament representing Constituency 125, Hon. Alusine Kanu, has informed that the Ministry of Sports was allocated 21 billion leones and, unto this date, the Ministry of Sports has yet to receive a dime from the Government, especially the Ministry of Finance.

He made the assertion during the Presidential debate on Tuesday 6th July 2020 in the Well of Parliament.

According to Hon. Alusine Kanu, government has neglected sporting activities in the country, and that such will surely have ripple effects on the country’s sporting activities.

Hon. Alusine Kanu revealed that, what is more concerning about sports in the country is the lackadaisical attitude of the government to honor their obligations, especially the refusal to pay allowances to the athletes from Morocco and the neglect of the female football competition.

He also pointed out that the current state of the Siaka Steven Stadium is nothing to write home about. “The stadium is completely dilapidated, and it requires urgent government intervention,” he said.

Hon. Alusine furthered that, since the government took over power, they have only concentrated on football leaving other sporting disciplines in the country. He however urged the Bio administration to look into the plight of the footballers that are yet to receive their allowances, especially those from Morocco and the female football teams.
