“I Narrowly Survived With A Broken Leg” -Says Inmate

On Wednesday 6th August 2020, Mohamed Sesay said he was one of the inmates who narrowly survived with a broken leg during the attempted Pademba Road prison break in Freetown, that took place on the 29th April, 2020.

Mohamed Sesay made this disclosure during court proceeding at Ross Road Magistrate Court No. 2, which is presided over by Magistrate George Samai. The 23 years old man said he could not sit by himself due to the severe damage he was undergoing.

He furthered that he had been hospitalized for three consecutive months at Connaught Hospital in Freetown, but he said his medical condition has not been improving. He added that only one bullet had been found in his leg.

“I could not sit by myself,” he said.

The accused is standing trial for allegedly stealing two million five hundred thousand leones from the complainant in question. However the accused was granted fifty million leones bail with one surety in like sum. But because he could not meet the bail conditions, he was sent to the Male Correctional Center, Pademba Road in Freetown.
