Three Incarcerated For Robbery

Mohamed Sorie Kamara and three others are standing trial at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1, which is presided over by Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma, for allegedly robbing Foday Sheku Tejan Sesay, eighty million Leones (Le 80,000,000) on the Thursday 20th August, 2020, at P.W.D. Ferry Junction, in Freetown.

The police prosecution witness, who is also the complainant in respect of the matter, in his testimony before the court, said he recognized the accused and could recall 20th August, 2020.

According to him, on that fateful day, he took his motorbike and headed for the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRA) at Kissy in Freetown, adding that when he arrived at the P.W.D. roundabout, Ferry Junction, in Freetown, his motorbike rode through some serious gallops.

He saikd the money, which was inside a Ghana must-go bag and tied on top of his motorbike, started flying from the bag on to the street. The witness said onlookers started shouting, “Moni dae fodon na treet’ (meaning, money is falling down on the street), the witness told the court.

He said he parked his motorbike in order to tie the bag properly. The witness said, after a few seconds, he saw the accused, coming from nowhere.

“He rushed at me. In the process, a serious scuffle ensued between me and him,” the complainant explained.

Mr. Sesay recounted that, during the scuffle, police from P.W.D. Police Post arrived at the scene and apprehended him and the accused and took them to the P.W.D. Police Post, where he was issued with a police medical request form for treatment at the Connaught Hospital in Freetown.

The witness further testified that he later returned with the endorsed medical paper, which was also produced and tendered in court marked as exhibit Z, and the made a statement in respect of the matter.

The police charge indicates that, Mohamed Sorie Kamara and three others, on the 20th August, 2020, at P.W.D. roundabout, Ferry Junction in Freetown, robbed the complainant, Foday Sheku Tejan Sesay, eighty million Leones (Le80,000,000).

The accused were unrepresented. Bail was refused and they were sent on remanded at the Male Correctional Centre, Pademba Road in Freetown. The matter will come up again on the 21st September, 2020.
