Ibrahim Samura’s Murder Trial Adjourned Again

The murder trial of the former proprietor of the New Age Newspaper, Ibrahim Samura, was yesterday adjourned again at the Freetown High Court.

The accused are Herbert George Williams, former Mayor of Freetown, and Abubakarr Daramy, former Public Relation Officer at the Ministry of Agricultural during the All People’s Congress regime.

The accused are standing trial on two counts of conspiracy to cause grevious bodily harm and murder, which are contrary to law.

The charge sheet states that the accused, on 31st March 2018 in Freetown, caused grevious bodily harm on the deceased, Ibrahim Samura, and also murdered him. The state prosecutor, Umu Sumaray, ought to have closed the case for the prosecution by calling the last witness to testify and the said witness would have been cross-examined by defense counsel, Melron Nicol-Wilson, and Lansana Dumbuya.

After the prosecution closed their case, the defense will open theirs to put up their defense. However the accused are on bail and the matter was adjourned to the 26th November 2020.
