For Impersonating Youth Minister: Accused Remanded

Rashid Momoh has made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Court No.1 for allegedly presenting himself as the Minister of Youth Affairs.

Momoh gavea forged complimentary card bearing the name of the Minister to the Manager of the Sierra Fisheries Company Limited. The intention of the accused was to collect fish and money on behalf of the minister.

The accused was charged with three counts of conspiracy to defraud, forgery and altering forged document.

Details from the court state that the accused,on Tuesday 10th July, 2018, at Sierra Fisheries Company, Kissy Dockyard, Freetown, conspired together with other persons unknown, with intent to defraud the company. He presented a forged complimentary card bearing the name of Mohammed Omar Bangura, Minister of Youth Affairs, to the General Manager, Sierra Fisheries Company. His sole purpose was to collect money and fish on behalf of the minister, knowing same to be false.

The prosecutor, A.S.P. Ibrahim Mansaray, sought for an adjournment on the grounds that his witnesses are not present in court. He assured the court that he will make them available on the next adjourned date.

The accused was remanded in custody and the matter was adjourned to the 14th August 2018.
