Magistrate Abdul Sheriff, of the Freetown Magistrate Court No 7, has remanded one Nabie Musa Conteh for allegedly penetrating a girl child below the age of eighteen (18) years.
The accused was charged with one count offence of sexual penetration of a child contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act No 12 of 2012.
Court details state that, Nabie Musa Conteh, on Monday 11th June 2018, at Success International Primary School, Signal Hill Freetown, sexually penetrated a child below the age of eighteen (18) years to wit (8) years.
According to the witness, who happens to be the victim in the matter, she recognizes the accused in the dock as his class three teacher in the school she attends.
She explained that, on the 11th June, 2018, when she sought permission to use the toilet, but the accused also entered the same toilet and removed her trousers and pants and asked her to bow down. This she did.
She told the court that the accused sexually penetrated her. Following the penetration, she said she saw blood coming down her legs.
After that the accused told her to wipe the blood with her handkerchief which she did. The victim recounted of how he warned her not to disclose what had transpired between them especially to her mother.
The victim later recalled telling her mother that she was suffering from an inflammation around her leg. She told the court that she later returned to class but school was almost over by then.
The victim explained that her mother became suspicious and subsequently discovered the clothes she was lying on were stained with blood.
She said she was taken to the Congo Cross Police Station where a statement was obtained from her and was issued with a medical paper.
Defense Counsel S.A. Taylor applied for bail on behalf of the accused on the grounds that, the accused has reliable sureties.
The Police Prosecutor, Shar Karku, raised an objection on the grounds that, the offence against the accused is a serious one. Besides, the accused had disabled the victim from taking her school examination leading to her being ridiculed by her friends.
The matter was adjourned to 17th August, 2018.
