RICHARD CONTEH VERSUS MARIE SESAY -Lawyers make final demand

Must read

In a running land matter between Dr. Richard Conteh and Madam Marie Sesay that has taken over 14 years to resolve, lawyers representing Marie Sesay have put out what they called “a final demand” for the good doctor to transfer what is due their client.

According to the final notice to Dr. Conteh from Marrah & Associates in the possession of this medium, the issue started in 2010 when Madam Marie Sesay allegedly paid $8,000 for four town lots of land at Mamah Street, Gloucester and an additional $2,000 to erect a perimeter fence for the entire property.

According to the Marrah & Associates letter or notice, Dr. Richard Conteh only conveyed two of the four town plots to Madam Marie Sesay. Since 2010, the law firm said the doctor has “refused and/or neglected to convey the balance despite numerous requests, demands and intervention of family and friend for the last several years”.

In a final attempt to assuage the matter and bring it to closure after 14 years, Marrah & Associates as requested by Madam Marie Sesay have been “instructed to make a final demand that you (Dr. Richard Conteh) transfer the title and hand over possessions of the balance two town lots of land which abut the other two town lots of land which you have conveyed to our client (Madam Marie Sesay) not later than 31st August 2024”.

In closing the law firm made a salient appeal to Dr. Richard Conteh: “Note that should you fail to comply within the stipulated timeframe above, our peremptory instructions are to institute an action against your good self in the High Court for specific performance and damages for breach of contract. We hope you would not render court action and its attendant consequences inevitable.”

Meanwhile Dr. Richard Conteh is a leading APC executive that has been praised by the party leader and flagbearer Dr. Samura Kamara for his co-chairing of the Tripartite Committee that is looking into the disputed June 2023 presidential election in Sierra Leone.

Dr Conteh was first appointed to Cabinet as Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Development by former President Ernest Bai Koroma shortly after his election on 17 September, 2007. He was later appointed Minister of Trade and Industry in 2010, and Chief of Staff in the Office of the President in 2013.
