He has decades of experience as a practicing lawyer and should be approaching an age when retirement beacons to him. He is son of a former Head of State and these factors have catapulted him into prominence. But for cruel fate he could have been Head of State of Sierra Leone. Having escaped that destiny he has been falling deeper and deeper into disrepute. He was not elected Vice-President of the APC which he helped win the 2007 elections. He was even detained by the APC as a way of thanking him. “E ge swe.” He was appointed Attorney-General and Minister of Justice by the Bio regime and sacked. Now he is one of the defending counsels of the APC for the forthcoming Commissions of Enquiry. He is already throwing a spanner in the works by predicting that the state may not have sufficient material to proceed.

Message to War Mongers
War has little or no choice in its consequences. Thus it was that when our civil war ensued those who thought they were immune either suffered or their relatives and friends died or suffered. In a similar way myopic citizens who are fanning the embers of war especially from abroad should not be surprised if a similar fate befalls their loved ones just because their party is not in power.
The Timing of Withdrawing Sam Sumana’s Security Detail
Until his historic visit to his former boss ex-President Ernest Koroma who sacked him, ex-Vice President Sam Sumana had been enjoying security provided by the ruling SLPP government although it is not clear whether he enjoyed the same facility while at the ECOWAS Court. He was embattled and is now fighting shy of debacle. The whole stratagem of sudden withdrawal has been seen through by the prying eyes of CITY PEEP. Political connoisseurs would view this through the same prism. Why Now? CITP PEEP can help the defending Inspector General by saying that they were granting the IG a period of grace. But if it comes to that the IG should pay for that period and not the state.

Sam’s ploy for meeting his former boss and apparently reconciling with him seems to have been to secure his support for his pension and other prestigious perks. This is likely to be the reason why he prevaricated just before the last elections.
The rest of the membership were constrained to make a show of support for their leader. Otherwise it would have been seen as a betrayal.
Last Rush Rape Cases
It had been seen that judges had been delivering laughable sentences for offences of rape thereby indirectly encouraging the practice. The President has said that there is going to be legislation of life sentences for rape but that is for the future. Meanwhile cases of rape appear to be on the increase to beat the deadline before the implementation of life sentences.
There have been suggestions in the media that instead of sentencing offenders for life during which they would be fed free rice they should rather be castrated.
How about that?
