Sam Alpha has made his first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngeba at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 for House breaking, contrary to section 25 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
Prosecution witness, Aminata Gbenda, a Waitress at Edie`s Restaurant, Goderich in Freetown in her testimony, told the court that she knew the complainant as her husband and she also recognized the accused.
The witness continued that on 21st September 2019 she was still sleeping at around 4 am, when she heard a strange noise in the palour.
She added that she ran towards the parlour and saw the complainant (Aiah Gbenda) with blood oozing from his nose.
She continued her testimony by recounting that this prompted her to call for help in the neighbourhood.
The witness further stated that she called one Augustine who immediately came and arrested the accused and and took him to the Adonkia Police Station Goderich, west of Freetown. She later made a statement to the Police.
The accused was before the court on four counts charge of burglary, contrary to section 25 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916, wounding, contrary to section 20 of the offences against the Persons Act of 1961, carrying offensive weapon and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, all contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.
The accused was not represented and hence he was refused bail and the matter adjourned to 23rd October 2019.
