Accused Arraigned For Larceny

Ansu Mannah Conteh has made his fourth appearance in respect of a larceny trial presided over by Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pa Demba Road Court in Freetown.
The accused was charged for alleged store breaking and larceny which is a contravention of the Larceny Act, 1916.
During the day’s proceedings, Prosecution witness, Fatmata Koroma testified that she recognized the accused and she recalled 18th November 2019.
On the said date, the witness went on; he was informed by her business partner, Daniel Sesay, through phone that thieves had broken into his store at Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown. The witness further testified that several properties were made away during the breakage. “Upon such information, I rushed to the scene and confirmed the breakage. I also discovered that several properties were stolen.” The witness narrated. From that point, the witness continued, he reported the matter to the Central Police Station. “I was called upon by the police to make statements when the accused was apprehended,” The witness rounded up.
The Police charge sheet indicates that Ansumana Mannah Conteh on 18th November 2019, at Siaka Stevens, in the Freetown judicial district in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, with intent to commit a felony, broke and entered into the store of complainant, Fatmata Koroma and did steal therein 16 dozens of body cream valued Le7.2M, property of complainant.
The accused was not represented and he was remanded. The matter comes up 31st January 2020.
