Accused Docked For Wounding

On the 2nd December 2019, one Mohamed Foh made his second appearance before Magistrate Alhaji Suliaman Koroma at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No. 1 for allegedly wounding one Aliamatu Kargbo on Wednesday 20th November 2019 at Upper Philip Street Wellington, east of Freetown.
Police prosecution witness, Aliamatu Kargbo, who also doubles as the victim in her testimony, told the court that she recognized the accused and that she could recall 20th November 2019.
The victim continued that on that fateful night, she was at Congo Water at around 11pm when the accused met her and asked her to accompany him to his residence at Upper Philip Street in Wellington which, according to her, she did.
She furthered that upon their arrival at the said residence, the accused (Mohamed Foh), introduced her to his family members as his girlfriend and she also noted that the accused took her into his bedroom, adding that all of a sudden, the accused asked to have sexual intercourse with her which, according to her, she refused vehemently but the accused became annoyed and took a glass plate which he used to hit her head continually, noting that she bled profusely from her head.
The witness also informed the court that she started screaming for help in the neighborhood which, according to her, was rescued by one police officer.
A close neighbor to the accused later came to the scene and took her to the Kaibah Police Post at Wellington where she was issued with police medical request form for examination and treatment at the Rokupa Government Hospital.
The endorsed medical form was returned to the station, the victim emphasized.
The victim ended her testimony by stating that she made a statement at the said hospital.
He told the court that the complainant asked him to pay her forty thousand Leones (Le 40,000) for her to pass the night with him but in her reply the complainant said no.
The accused was before the court on three counts charge of wounding with intent, contrary to section 18 of the offences against the Persons Act 1861, wounding, contrary to section 20 of the offences against the Persons Act of 1861 and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to section 47 of the offences against the Persons Act of 1861.
Bail was refused and the accused was remanded while the matter was adjourned to 9th December, 2019.
