Chernor Abdulai Kamara on Tuesday 18th May 2021 made his first appearance before Justice Alusine Sesay during the May Criminal Sessions at the High Court in Freetown, allegedly charged of wounding Amidu Sesay with intent to cause him grevious bodily harm.

The accused was arraigned before the Judge on a count of wounding, which is contrary to Section 18 of the Offence against the Persons Act of 1861.

The Police alleged that the accused, on 7th February 2021 in Freetown, wounded the complainant with the intention of causing him grievous bodily harm.

Chernor Abdulai Kamara pleaded not guilty of the offence.

Defense counsel Cecilia Tucker, from the Sierra Leone Legal Aid Board, made an application for bail on behalf of the accused. She said the accused is a first time offender and he has reliable sureties to stand on his behalf.

The state prosecutor A.T. Rogers did not object to bail being granted.

Justice Alusine Sesay granted the accused twenty million Leones bail and one surety in like sum. And the surety should produce a valid national identification card. The bail should be approved by the deputy Master and Registrar.

The learned judge therefore assigned the matter to Justice Amy Wright for hearing on the 25th May 2021.
