Gibrilla Turay, who was dragged to court and is standing trial on a private criminal summons for an alleged vehicle fraud involving $45,000, has been granted bail by Principal Magistrate Sahr Kekura of the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1.
The accused made his first appearance before Magistrate Kekura.
Turay was arraigned before the court on a count charge of fraudulent conversion contrary to Section 20 (1) (4) (B) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The indictment states that the accused on April 24, 2024, at Youyi Building in Freetown, fraudulently converted a white Lexus Jeep 2018 model valued at $45,000 (forty-five thousand United States dollars) entrusted to him by complainant Michael Kamara for the purpose of sale which he converted to his own use.
Accused Gibrilla Turay, after the charges were read and explained to him, pleaded not guilty of the offence.
Counsel representing the complainant, Ibrahim Kamara, sought for an adjournment, adding that his client will testify on the next adjourned date.
Defence counsel Charles Abass Bangura applied for bail on behalf of the accused.
The accused was granted bail and the matter was adjourned to June 24, 2024, for further proceedings.
