Accused Incarcerated For Wounding With Intent

Nasiru Kamara has made his first appearance before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 for allegedly wounding one Aruna Kabba at Sherbro Town Goderich, west of Freetown.
Police prosecution witness, Aruna Kabba in his testimony, told the court that he recognized the accused and identified him as his cousin.
The witness further testified that on 14th September 2019, he was at home when he got information that forty-four (44) bags of sand belonging to him had gone missing.
He added that the source, his neighborhood friend, had also intimated him that it was the accused who had stolen the sand.
The witness further told the court that he contacted the accused regarding the allegation in a polite manner but he said the accused became irritated and attacked him which resulted to an ensuing battle between them.
Kabba further informed the court that while the fracas was ongoing, one of their neighbors, Bamakoh, came with the intention to stop them fighting but, according to him, the accused later extended the fight to Bamakoh.
The neigbour that intervened to stop the fight was later stabbed by the accused with a very sharp object, the witness stated.
The witness continued his testimony by stating that their neigbour was taken to the Emergency Hospital at Goderich in Freetown for a week.
He continued that he later went to the Adonkia Police Station and made a statement to the Police and was issued a police medical request form for treatment.
The accused was before the court on three count charges of wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, all contrary to section 19 and 20 against the Persons Act of 1861.
The court details stated that Nasiru Kamara on 14th September, 2019 at Sherbro Town, Goderich in Freetown wounded and assaulted Aruna Kabba, thereby causing him grievous bodily harm.
The accused was not legally represented but he was granted fifty million Leones (Le 50,000,000) bail with two sureties in like sum.
The bail conditions further disclosed that the two sureties must be gainfully employed and that bail must be approved by the Deputy Master and Registrar.
The matter was adjourned to 30th September, 2019.
