Africa Global Logistics Sponsors Education At Seaside Community

Africa Global Logistics (AGL) has supported approximately 745 pupils for free summer school classes at the Seaside Community which covers Cline Town, Fourah Bay Road and environs in Freetown.

The ceremony took place Thursday 29th August, 2024, at the Bishop Johnson Secondary School Fourah Bay Road, Freetown.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Gassimu Fofanah said it is the second year AGL has been sponsoring school going pupils at the Seaside Community.

Mr. Fofanah said education is essential part of human capital development and therefore advised the pupils to take their school work seriously as it is beneficial to them.

He said though the support is coming from Freetown terminal through AGL, but it is more beneficial and important to them for their personal development.

Gassimu said AGL has been helping the community people every year to improve and contribute immensely to the lives of people at the aforesaid communities.

The summer school, he said it is more beneficial to them, disclosing that they have been supporting university students in those communities for the past two years.

Mr. Fofanah assured that by end of September, AGL will be donating or supplying school learning materials to the pupils and encouraged them to continue attending the free summer school classes.

He said AGL is targeting one thousand four hundred pupils, but however, he was not that impressed at attendance in the various classes. He encouraged the pupils to continue attending the free summer school classes.

The National Coordinator of Eastern Teacher Association (ETA), Anans Sesay thanked the Seaside Community for contacting the association and ensured that with free summer school for 745 pupils.

Mr. Sesay said it is not the first time they have been conducting free holidays classes through the help of Africa Global Logistics (AFL). Sesay said the Eastern Teacher Association has been helping the community as that is the only way they can give back to the community.

He heaped praises on entire management of Africa Global Logistics (AFL) for their support. The Seaside Community Chairman, Lamin Koroma, said the essence of giving them the support is for them to be educated.

He therefore advised them to take and respect education and imitated from them.

Lamin encouraged the pupils to come out in the large number next year to attend the classes.

He maintained that AGL is willing and ready to support them with university education provided if they have their university requirements.

He added AGL have been sponsoring university students every year based upon their request. He said Freetown terminal has been always there for them and for them for the past five years.

He admonished the school going pupils to take their studies very serious as education is better than silver and gold. He said the selection was opened, transparent and was announced in the community.

He maintained that the attendance is somehow encouraging even though it is rainy season.

Speaking to one of the beneficiaries, Sia Raymond says she is happy and glad for the support saying during the holidays, she has nothing to do at home, but she is now happy she is now attending free summer school class.

Sia noted that education is a key to success and encouraged others to take their school work serious. She thanked AGL for the support and hope for more on the future.
