The African Union Mission has condemned the United States President, Donald Trump, for a nasty comment he made against the African continent.

In a statement released on Friday by the AU office in Washington D.C, it demanded an apology from President Trump.

“The African Union Mission condemns the comments in the strongest possible terms and demands a retraction of the comment as well as an apology to not only the Africans but to all people of African descent around the globe.”

Last week President Trump described Africa, Haiti and El Salvador with a nasty term. His comment has sparked outrage within the African community.

Senegal President, Mackie Sall, took to Twitter to condemn President Trump. Botswana government summoned the US Ambassador to the country for query.

In Sierra Leone, the government has not responded to the comments.
Aside from AU’s condemnation of President Trump’s act, it also called for future dialogue between the US and the continent for a relationship based on mutual respect.
