The President of the National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA-SLE), Prince Vandy Sualley, has confirmed that the Executive Director of the OlympAfrica Foundation, Alassane Thierno Diack, will visit Sierra Leone this week, to assess the proposed site of the second OlympAfrica Foundation project.
Last week, The NOC/CGA-SLE President conducted an official visit to the proposed site of the OlympAfrica Foundation project in Kalangba, Karene District, on the outskirts of Lunsar. The visit forms part of ongoing preparatory efforts toward the implementation of the much-anticipated multi-sport facility under the OlympAfrica initiative.
President Sualley was accompanied by senior officials of the NOC/CGA-SLE, local stakeholders, and the delegation was received by community leaders, landowners, and youth representatives, all of whom expressed strong support for the project.
Speaking during his visit, Sualley underscored the strategic importance of the OlympAfrica Centre in enhancing grassroots sports development and expanding access to quality sports infrastructure outside the capital, reaffirming NOC/CGA-SLE’s commitment to ensuring that the project aligns with the values of the Olympic Movement—excellence, friendship, and respect—and contributes meaningfully to youth empowerment and community development.
The President’s visit included an inspection of access routes, site demarcation, and stakeholder consultations. A technical mission is expected to follow in the coming weeks to finalize construction plans, budgeting, and community integration protocols.
