Alleged Homosexual Escapes Death

Some reportedly hostile men from the Gbangbani secret society from Kamakwe are on the hunt for Alhaji Gibril Sesay, who they promised would pay dearly if and when caught.

All this started, according to sources, when Gibril Sesay allegedly openly spoke in public about their society, which members of the society consider as a taboo for males who are supposed to be part of the Gbangbani society to delve into issues of the society’s in the public domain.

The locals say Sesay’s father and mother were killed in the village because of his statement against the Gbangbani society. Information also has it that Gibril Sesay’s late father was an Imam, who did the same by preaching against secret societies in the village.

Sesay’s life was said to be the target, with several threats made against him especially about his youthful age by members of the Gbangbani society. Sources intimated this medium that, after the death of his parents, Alhaji Gibril Sesay left Kamakwe village for Freetown where he stayed for several years.

Apart from this trending threat from members of the Gbangbani society against Sesay, he was also reportedly caught red-handed engaging in homosexual acts with one Kowlyn Kamara, his gay partner.

When the news broke, sources say Sesay was chased by a group of young people denigrating him for being a homosexual.

Homosexual activities are an abomination in Sierra Leone, especially when the country’s population is predominantly Muslim.

News gathered said, Alhaji Gibril Sesay was captured and mercilessly manhandled by irate youths at his 26 George Brook Street, Dwazark community in Freetown.

During the scuffle to capture Gibril Sesay one of the community youths was eventually killed and many sustained injuries. Sesay, according to information, went into a coma for some time due to how he was manhandled by his captors.

At the incident, sources say stakeholders, chiefs and leaders of Muslim religion were present, but instead of rescuing Alhaji Gibril Sesay they called on the youths to kill him.

Sources went further that Sesay’s life became miserable after he sustained heavy injuries yet survived from the stab wounds at the scene.

Gibril Sesay, according to sources, was later handed over to the police at the New Englandville Police Station where he was locked up for three months before he was released.

As if that was not enough after he was released, sources says, Alhaji Gibril Sesay was also caught performing homosexual acts in a makeshift structure with his partner Kowlyn Kamara.

The community people say the news escalated again and the people converged at his residence on 26 George Brook Street, Dwazark pelting stones, demanding he be killed on that fateful evening.

Stakeholders in the community are reportedly telling youths to find any family member of Alhaji Gibril Sesay to kill them.

Dwazark community is a Muslim dominated area that does not tolerate what they describe as unholy activities, not even to talk about homosexual activities which many consider as dirty and unreligious.

Sesay, sources went further, escaped from the backyard where another group of young people arrested him and his partner Kowlyn Kamara and heavily manhandled them, going as far as stripping them naked in the view of hundreds of people.

After he was again beaten up Sesay sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Ross Road Police Station and locked up for another two months.

The police sources say Sesay was released after two months in detention without charges and he was told to report to the police station on a daily basis, adding: ‘But he is nowhere to be found.’

Gibril Sesay and partner reportedly fled to Lungi to find refuge for months.

In Lungi, they were also caught red-handed engaged in homosexual acts with Kowlyn Kamara and both were stabbed and manhandled for the third time. Sesay’s partner Kowlyn Kamara ended up losing his life during the incident.

According to one eye witness, Alhaji Gibril Sesay managed to escaped to the nearby bush.

Upon hearing that the police are still searching for him, according to sources, Sesay travelled by bush to Port Loko, where he faced similar threats which forced him to flee to Kambia District, northern Sierra Leone, where he also reportedly spent some time.

Because of his deteriorating health condition and persistent threats to kill him, Alhaji Gibril Sesay has reportedly escaped to neighbouring Guinea. Reports say Sesay’s late partner, Kowlyn Kamara, was later buried.

Meanwhile, to date, the police and Gbangbani secret society men are still haunting Sesay, saying they want him dead but is nowhere to be found.
