Must read

By Mohamed Conteh

One Alhaji Rahim who was accused of engaging in homosexual activities has reportedly fled Sierra Leone for fear of persecution by fellow Muslims and family members. In the Muslim faith, homosexuality has always been perceived as an immoral act punishable by death.  According to our sources, Alhaji Rahim who was currently being hunted comes from a fervent and strict Muslim family with ties to the current government.

Sources said Alhaji Rahim was in a marriage that was arranged by his mother and family members, including his uncle Mr Osman Timbo who is a leading member of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party, (SLPP) and he is the current Minister of Labor.

The sources also reported that things took a dire turn for Alhaji Rahim when it was discovered that he was engaged in a homosexual affair with an unnamed man who was visiting Sierra Leone from England.

As news of the affair spread in his close knit Muslim community, Alhaji Rahim became a target. According to local police report, Alhaji was attacked, beaten and left for dead shortly after the discovery of the homosexual affair.  An anonymous source has also reported to this medium that the attack on Alhaji Rahim’s life was ordered by his uncle Mr Alpha Timbo.  This medium has made attempts to reach Alhaji Rahim’s mother for comments but to no avail.
