Sierra Leone National Men’s Team Ambassador and International Representative, Christian Dauda will today, Monday January 15th 2024, attempt to broker peace between riotous communities, Kroo Town Road and Kroo Bay, according to the Central One Football Association.
COFA’s Wednesday’s fixture between Kroo Town and Kroo Bay Communities was put on hold by the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of Central Police Station due to security concerns.
Tuesday’s night saw tension mount between two neighbouring communities, thanks to Central Police Station’s timely intervention to put the riots under control.
The tension continued on the morning hours of Wednesday which prompted the LUC of Central Police Station to put the match on hold.
The Chairman’s Central One Football Association (COFA), Philipson Cline-Cole has confirmed that both teams have been summoned to a meeting scheduled to place on Monday at the Parade Ground at 4pm.
“I can confirm that Sierra Leone National Men’s Team Ambassador and International Representative, Christian Dauda will meet with us including both Kroo Town Road and Kroo Bay communities in order to support in achieving a peaceful resolution,” he said.
“I am a member of the Kroo Town community, so I am more than willing to take the lead in finding a peaceful resolution to bring sanity among these neighboring communities. These are football oriented communities that will not to be banned in the competition. Christian Dauda maintained. I believe it’s just a simple misunderstanding that will be settled peacefully once, and for all so we hope both communities will exercise the sportsmanlike behavior and embrace each other,” he noted.
