Ambulance Driver, Drugs Smuggler Arrested

The Eastern Region Commander, AIG Thomas Mustapha Lahai, disclosed on Monday 18th May, 2020 at a news conference at Kingtom Police Barracks that the police have arrested one Foday Baba Mansaray with huge consignment of pharmaceutical drugs and other assorted items at Kailahun District border between Sierra Leone and Guinea.
According to AIG Thomas M. Lahai, the culprit had allegedly planned to smuggle the drugs into Guinea but were impounded by the police and are now at the Eastern Divisional Headquarters in Kenema city, while the alleged culprit is being investigated.
AIG Thomas M. Lahai informed journalists that the police in Kenema on 14th May, 2020 also arrested one Mohamed Issa Sannoh, an ambulance driver attached to the Connaught Hospital for carrying illegal passengers in the Ambulance vehicle meant for transporting COVID-19 test specimen and patients.
He furthered that the police have received several intelligence on ambulance drivers engaging on criminal activities, smuggling passengers in and out of the provinces, thereby violating government laid down restrictions and measures to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
In spite of the fight to end the virus, according to AIG Lahai, the police in the region are still engaging in constant night patrols to strengthen security as they have deployed security forces along the border crossing points between Guinea and Liberia.
