Orange Sierra Leone’s CEO, Madam Aminata Kane, was amongst several Sierra Leoneans, institutions and diplomats recognized in this year’s 2019 Environmental Care Awards.
The annual event is organized by Shout Climate Change Africa, Environment Protection Agency (EPA) and it is about recognizing individuals and institutions that are working in their own way to promote responsible environmental management and policies in their respective institutions.
Madam Kane was recognized for Orange Sierra Leone’s extensive humanitarian response to various sectors in the country’s development trajectory.
Her Company Orange Sierra Leone was singled out for its participation in environment and social related investment by obtaining an EIA license from EPA in accordance with the EPA Act of 2008.
The EIA license is secured annually to ensure that the company conducts its business responsibly, guaranteeing the mitigation of the company’s activities on the environment.
Madam Aminata Kane was also recognized for the fact that Orange Sierra Leone under her leadership has contributed as part of its CSR to the Environment by undertaking several environmental and humanitarian projects such as supporting the welfare of 50 Ebola orphans ; supporting the FCC in the prevention of flood mitigation, distribution of Tam-pads-sanitary reusable pads for girls in schools, supporting the Thinking Pink Foundation; rehabilitation of the Othorpaedic Theatre and the establishment of first ever Pediatric theatre in the country’s health sector at Connaught Hospital, amongst others.
Madam Aminata Kane received the award at the Miatta Conference Centre in Freetown committing her Organization’s increased commitment to support initiatives that would enhance the efficient management of the Environment and also brings succor to mankind especially the needy and vulnerable.
