A member of the Strategic Communication Team at the Ministry of Information and Communications, Abu Bakarr Joe Sesay has told the press that plans are underway to institute another fourteen days nationwide lockdown because of the increasing number of confirmed COVID 19 cases across the country. Currently, the number of confirmed cases in the country has risen to fifteen with more hidden cases expected to be identified in the coming days. According to Sesay, the previous three days lockdown and the current fourteen days partial lockdown and curfew have been fruitful to the government as they have been able to identify more cases across the country. He also disclosed that the COVID-19 Response team in the country has deployed massive Contact Tacers across the country to locate and quarantine any sick person suspected of having the virus.
The fourteen days lockdown, he said, is expected to start at the end of the month when the government would have paid salaries to all public workers nationwide. Abu Bakarr Joe Sesay also disclosed that the MIC has ordered all visitors and business people entering public buildings to have a face mask or else they will not be allowed entrance. This new preventive measure, he noted, is meant to help curb the spread of the virus in the country.
