The ruling All People’s Congress Party will conduct their final rally today in Freetown and it is expected that the Capital City Freetown will go Tolongbo, as petty traders, wholesalers and other works of life will come out in huge numbers to grace the rally.
A very senior party official has informed nightwatch that his Excellency, the President, Chairman and Leader of the Party, is expected to join the rally and use the occasion to bid farewell to supporters of the party in Freetown. Very senior members of the party, who have been visibly absent within the campaign trail in other areas of the country, are expected to fully join in the rally with a view to show that they are still united to bring back the party to power. The source concluded.
Chairman of the Party in the Western Area, Rtd. Captain Alieu Pat-Sowe has confirmed that the entire Western urban and rural will cease all economic functions and business today to show their loyalty and commitment to the party. “They have committed themselves to come out in huge numbers to show their gratefulness to the party and the Government of HE Ernest Bai Koroma,” he said.
Speaking on security for the rally, Cornelius Deveaux, Spokesman and Deputy Information Minister, stated that they would be highly vigilant this time around to pick up intruders and individuals who will be bent on creating mayhem for the party.
“We have implored on the Sierra Leone Police and our Marshalls to weed out all elements who will seek to create anti-social problems during the rally,” Mr. Deveaux concluded
It could be recalled that the SLPP was able to paint Freetown green yesterday in what was dubbed a ‘One Million Man March’. It is against this backdrop that critics are envisaging a very huge turnout today to be able to show the public and the international Community that they still have the confidence and support of Freetown and people of Sierra Leone.
Close sources within the party have disclosed to this medium that the party will unveil very prominent personalities who have defected from other political parties during today’s rally. This defection, according to the source, will increase the chances of the party to clinch the ballot in the first round.
