The main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) is united now more than ever before. Any talk that the party isn’t is untrue and the works or agenda of paid ruling party surrogates within the party’s rank and file alongside the surreptitious undermining operations of Bio’s government are already being exposed. This is according to APC executives who spoke to Nightwatch.
This medium was reliably informed by key party stalwarts that some of their colleagues are in the employ of the SLPP to sow seeds of discord within the APC. The party executives called some of their comrades, wolves in sheep clothing whose sole objective is to stoke and maintain the idea of the APC being in disarray hoping to distract the executive from their mission to elect a flagbearer that can oust the SLPP and president Bio from power. The reality on the ground within the APC, the executives went on, is far from the lie that is being promoted as the APC is more unified now than ever before.
“It is no secret that every party has factions. These factions represent complementary ideologies to the party’s main ideology and work together to present a cohesive and united front. But members of certain factions are working in the interest of the ruling party and are being paid to coax the people into accepting Bio’s stolen second term mandate, acting as Bio’s public relations agents within the main opposition,” a senior Executive commented, adding that, true APCians will never accept Bio’s second term victory as legitimate.
The Executive member maintains that if there was a call for a snap election today, the people will overwhelmingly vote for the APC candidate, pointing to the fact that the SLPP government has made things so difficult; has failed on all their promises to the people so much so that, even within the SLPP there are simmering tensions as people are not allowed to freely voice their opinions or feelings and are expected to pretend that all is well with them.
The ranking APC partisans said the sell-out APC executives and others working for the ruling party are paid to distract the people from their economic, social and political realities on the ground, which realities are so harsh that even SLPP supporters are now ashamed to argue in defence of their party and President on the issues of economic hardship, corruption and the stolen second term presidential victory.
“It’s the unified APC block and some true democrats in the SLPP that care about a government of delivery that together voted to oust Bio from power last year. Sadly we all know what happened to our 2023 votes. But if we did it in 2023 we will do it again in 2028. Therefore APC is unified and forging ahead. Our supporters and members should therefore ignore the voices of the paid SLPP operatives within our ranks and instead focus on those of us calling for patience to see the party’s plans come to fruition,” implored another APC executive.
Disunity in the APC is feigned propaganda aimed at continuing the initial distraction concocted by the ruling party starting with the commissions of inquiry and the ensuing court cases against the EBK regime, the executives stated.
“The reality on the ground is that ‘you can fool some people sometime but you can’t fool all the people all the time’. The lie that the APC is in disarray has been played for too long and it is time that we as a party and country start focusing on the facts. The APC has its house in order and our supporters are responding to our calls for intraparty affairs. We are preparing a formidable team that will ensure that we win 2028 with a resounding vote that the ruling party government will not be able to manipulate even if they tried. The SLPP government is a sinking ship. They all know that their time is at hand. A unified APC is worrisome to president Bio and is a danger to the SLPP’s third term agenda. We won from an incumbent SLPP regime in 2007 and we will do so again in 2028. The stolen 2023 presidential election is forever on our minds and it is our duty to ensure that the 2028 vote will not be tampered with,” assured one of the APC executives that spoke to Nightwatch.
The APC remains a force for good in Sierra Leone’s political landscape. It is true that the SLPP government will not be able to wrestle power or win a presidential election against the APC without using some form of electoral trickery or political violence. It was the reason the elections law was changed to the use of the PR system of elections using trickery and abuse of the rule of law to cook up a majority in the House of Parliament when there are established constituencies. The use of the PR system to manipulate the reflection of the law making House of Parliament continues to affect our peace and national security, giving reason for ECOMOG to hasten their arrival in Sierra Leone.
“However, no amount of propaganda from within the APC or from the ruling party government will be able to sow disunity in the APC. We are united for the simple fact that the ruling party government is trying to separate us. They are promoting the idea of an APC in disarray to deflect the people’s attention from their many leadership failures that we will recount at every campaign stop to remind the people that their future prosperity and peace is inextricably tied to an APC regime at State House,” concluded the APC executives.
