The All People’s Congress January 2020 Port Loko Conference is expected to elect an interim party executive to take the party to the next national delegates’ conference ahead of the 2023 elections.
Sources within the party have intimated this medium that there are tensions between the Party’s Chairman and Leader, former President Koroma to convince his executive to make way for a new interim executive against the backdrop that many supporters and sympathizers of the APC are of the opinion that the old executive should make way for a new one.
Ernest Koroma, the Party’s Chairman and Leader according to our source is fighting hard to convince Osman Yansaneh and others to take the back seat and later provide the much needed support and finances to support the party’s activities ahead of the 2023 elections.
It is also reported that Osman Yansaneh, Minkailu Mansaray and others in the old guards, are disposed to the idea of giving way to a new executive but it is now clear that it is the position of many supporters that it is now expedient to change the guards.
The Conference also, according to our source, is also expected to fully endorse the co-opted NAC members in the likes of Dr. Samura and others, and subsequently endorse the party’s newly amended constitution.
Former President Koroma, according to sources, was quoted as saying during a well attended APC meeting that he will ensure that he does everything to bring back the party to power against the backdrop that he has been blamed for the party’s losing of the March 2018 elections.
Sources from Makeni have also intimated this medium that in the next twenty-four hours, Ernest Koroma is expected to host a unity party amongst all the party’s flag bearers for the March 2018 elections.
The meeting, according to our sources, is intended to prepare the ground for sustainable peace ahead of the party’s national delegates’ conference.
