As APC Ward 47 Grassroots Decide… Lawyer Beratay Endorsed

By Musa Paul Feika

Grassroots supporters of the All People’s Congress (APC) in Ward 47 have thrown their weight behind Lawyer Musa Beratay, assuring him of their unwavering support and commitment to helping him secure a seat in Parliament in the 2028 general elections.

The endorsement was made last Saturday, 30th May, 2026, during a thank-you tour organized by the Beratay Movement Foundation in Constituency 124. The tour commenced from Lawyer Beratay’s residence and proceeded through the Susan’s Bay community in Freetown.

Addressing supporters, Lawyer Musa Beratay expressed gratitude to the people of Susan’s Bay and all those who stood by him throughout the recently concluded ward elections.

“With God, all things are possible. It is God who has made this victory possible,” he said.

Lawyer Beratay acknowledged the sacrifices made by his supporters, noting that some endured intimidation, assaults, and other challenges during the electoral process. He commended their resilience and dedication to the movement.

He emphasized that politics should not be viewed as a source of hostility. “Politics is not just about enmity. We and our opponents are not enemies. It is time to embrace and welcome those who did not support us because unity will contribute immensely to our future success,” he stated.

Several community stakeholders used the occasion to praise Beratay for his contributions to the development of Susan’s Bay.

Speaking on behalf of community elders, Chief Alimamy highlighted Beratay’s longstanding support for residents, including his legal assistance to community members and the construction of public toilet facilities at Long Bench.

“Lawyer Musa Beratay has done so much for Susan’s Bay the point that it would be difficult to mention everything within the time available,” the chief remarked.

Community Chairman, Ishmael G. Kamara commended residents for overwhelmingly supporting Beratay in the elections, describing the outcome as a reflection of the community’s confidence in his leadership.

“When Susan’s Bay supports a candidate, it does so wholeheartedly. That is why we are celebrating the Beratay Movement today,” he said.

Kamara also urged Beratay not to forget the community if elected to Parliament in 2028.

Chairlady Jariatu Koroma assured Beratay of the continued support of women and youths in Susan’s Bay.

“We will surely take Lawyer Beratay to Parliament in 2028,” she declared.

Koroma recalled how Beratay had urged his supporters to remain calm following previous electoral setbacks, expressing confidence that his time to serve was drawing nearer.

“This is the time of Lawyer Beratay,” she said.

Veteran community leader, Pa Yusif Kamara thanked supporters for their commitment and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon Beratay. He also encouraged members of the movement to remain united and continue working at the grassroots level.

“The fight has just started. We must continue the hard work on the ground,” he urged.

Meanwhile, newly elected Ward 47 Chairman, Mr. Barrie, speaking on behalf of the ward executive, described the victory in the lower-level elections as a collective achievement.

He thanked supporters for their dedication and commitment, which he said played a significant role in securing success for the movement.

The thank-you tour concluded with renewed calls for unity and continued mobilization ahead of future political engagements, as supporters reaffirmed their determination to see Lawyer Musa Beratay represent Constituency 124 in Parliament in 2028.
