The Head of Criminal Investigations Department, Chief Superintendent Gabriel Tommy, has said in Freetown that they have briefly detained and released Paramount Chief Kabba Kabba Tucker of Bonthe District on bail for allegations of having destroyed and damaged the properties of his subjects.
The CID Boss noted that they arrested Paramount Chief Kabba Kabba Tucker on warrant at the precincts of the law court building after efforts to get him through the Ministry of Local Government failed.
It will be recalled that the Local Unit Commander, Mattru Jong Division, Chief Superintendent Samuel Kargbo, had earlier on told SLBC’s Morning Coffee some few months ago that the subjects of Paramount Chief Kabba Kabba Tucker had reported him of having initiated a secret poro society in spite of the government’s ban on all societies. SLBC’s Morning Coffee Program had played a clip in which a young girl accused Paramount Chief Tucker of having raped her after forcefully damaging the door of her room.
The Police in Matru jong also told Morning Coffee that they were investigating the matter.
It was even reported by unconfirmed sources that the Police in Bo had detained the Paramount Chief alongside others for the rape allegations.
How comes that Paramount Chief Kabba Kabba Tucker could not be reach for questioning by the Sierra Leone Police in such a grave matter for several months now? Why would the CID Boss deceive Sierra Leoneans that Paramount Chief Tucker, who hails from President Bio’s Bonthe District, is not being investigated for rape but for other offences such as malicious damage?
What role has the local Government Ministry played in ensuring that Paramount Chief Tucker is brought to book to clear his name from rape allegations, which has become a national concern especially so when the Police at CID had told the public that they have severally written to the Ministry to get Paramount Chief Tucker to appear before them?
Could this bizarre event be permitted because Chief Tucker hails from Bonthe District and what becomes of the President’s national emergency on rape and the First Lady’s ‘Hands Off Our Girls’ Campaign’?
